Ingrid
Mänd
conductor
“It was clear that the choir trusted its conductor, and Ingrid Mänd was indeed a good shepherd who led with a firm hand and did not make the slightest concession in tempo.”
Miina Pärn, Sirp (Veljo Tormis “Forgotten people”, 21.06.2024, Tartu, Estonia)

Ingrid Mänd (née Roose) is active as a choral and orchestral conductor and is currently a freelance conductor and the head of Estonian Choral Conductors Association.
Ingrid Mänd has been active both in concert and staging projects. In 2019 she led the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra, 120 singers and 12 soloists in a gala program of Estonian operatic music composed through 100 years. She has also conducted the performances of Benjamin Brittens opera “The Turn of the Screw” and two operas with Chœur de l’Orchestre de Paris: John Rutter “BANG” and Lewis Murphy “Belongings”. She has conducted operatic gala concerts with soloists like Monika-Evelin Liiv, Arete Kerge, Karis Trass, Raiko Raalik and others.
As a choirmaster, Ingrid Mänd has collaborated with Esa-Pekka Salonen, Klaus Mäkelä, Dmitri Slobodeniouk, Tõnu Kaljuste, Kaspar Mänd and several other conductors, preparing, among others, vocal symphonic works such as Mahler 3rd and 8th symphonies, Beethoven 9th symphony, Esa-Pekka Salonen “Karawane”, Ravel “Daphnis and Cloé”, Poulenc “Stabat mater”, Tamberg “Amores”, etc.
“Salonen begins with a whisper, that of the Choir of the Orchestre de Paris (prepared for this first part of the concert by Ingrid Roose), which impresses with its homogeneity and perfect timing. The singers whisper Ball's verses, before a chord in the orchestra suddenly clears this murmur and leads into a more ethereal section.”
